Real Madrid is a ten time European Champion and Ronaldo deserves his place alongside the likes of Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane, Eusebio, Puskas, Di Stefano and the whole bunch of others.

No amount of Goal.com’s ‘features’, Sky Sports Guillem Balague ‘expert’ analysis and change.org’s petitions can change an inch of what Real Madrid and Ronaldo have been able to achieve.

Aside from the fact that Real Madrid have yet to concede a goal at Bernabeu this Champions League season and Ronaldo is on the verge of breaking his own goal scoring record, here are the top five reasons why Real Madrid can only ‘blame’ themselves for another Champions League final.

Real Madrid faced Wolfsburg in the quarter finals.

Yes. You might have heard this the other way around but the simple fact is that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are sore losers and so are their paid pundits who work for various media outlets.

Wolfsburg might be placed 8th in the bundesliga but as far as this Champions League season goes, were more than just a ‘2nd tier team having never won a Champions League’.

If you can just have a quick look at the group stages of this year’s Champions League, it should take you way less than two hours to realise that Wolfsburg topped their group.

A group that consisted of teams like Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven. CSKA Moscow is a little more than just a push over as well.

So the argument of Real Madrid facing teams that have never won the competition, to put it mildly, is preposterous.

The team (Wolfsburg) that we are talking about here knocked out two giants of European football. So is it really Real Madrid’s fault that Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven weren’t able to show up for a competition as important as Champions League?

Real Madrid Faced Manchester City in The Semi Finals.

Another one of those ‘arguments’ some people are putting forth is that Real Madrid faced Manchester City, the minnows of this tournament, in the semi final of the champions league.
Again, it is not Real Madrid’s fault that other teams weren’t good enough to beat such a ‘lowly’ Manchester City who had some third rate strikers like Aguero and some third rate midfielders like Yaya Toure along with Nasri and Jesus Navas playing for them.

Raheem Sterling is also someone no one has any idea about. This kid should be banned from playing professionally, he is that bad right?

But on a serious note, Manchester City was another team that topped their group and not only that, they topped the group that had teams like Juventus (last year’s finalists) and Sevilla breathing right down their neck.

So maybe Manchester City isn’t as garbage of a team as some people at Goal and Sky Sports are making it out to be.

And let’s not even talk about the fact that Manchester City knocked out PSG in the quarter finals right?

But again, you say, who is PSG?

But I didn’t hear that question last year when Suarez (Barcelona attacking wizard) was nutmegging David Luiz for fun and everyone was in awe of the goals he and Messi scored in the tie.

So you better believe it then. Any team who reaches the knockout stages of the Champions League deserves to be there. Period.

Luis Enrique has always been a sore loser. Whether be it as a player or a coach so obviously he is going to make excuses like “you need luck, moments, some key decision to win Champions League” when his team gets knocked the hell out of Champions League by our city rivals when they were one man down at the Camp Nou.

I didn’t read this football philosophy of Luis Enrique last year when Barcelona won the Champions League. Where was the luck or ‘moments’ then?

Real Madrid came back from the dead against Wolfsburg

And that requires courage. Barcelona had none of that against Atletico Madrid this season when they got booted out 2-0 in the 2nd leg of their quarter finals.

Just one goal and Real Madrid would have needed to score five goals to get through the quarter finals in regular time.

Real Madrid didn’t buckle under pressure and most of all Ronaldo delivered (once again) when it mattered.

Real Madrid didn’t lose hope and kept on fighting and these are the traits Champions are made of. No matter what happens on Saturday, Real Madrid have fought and suffered throughout the tournament and hence deserve their place in the final just like anybody else.

Real Madrid had a Manager Exit The Club

Which can destroy a team’s season in a jiffy. Just like what happened at Manchester City towards the end of the season. So credit should be given to the new manager Zinedine Zidane (former Real Madrid player who won the Champions League as a player with Real Madrid by scoring a fantastic left-footed volley from 20 yards out against Bayer Leverkusen), the players (especially Cristiano Ronaldo who led this Real Madrid line up in the periodic absences of Benzema, Bale and James) and to the club’s supporters who never lost hope in the team.

Real Madrid Will Face Atletico Madrid in the Final

And our ‘beloved’ city rivals are the side that knocked out Bayern Munich  and ‘the unbeatable treble winning’ golden Barcelona under Messi and Enrique. Barcelona, against Atletico Madrid, lack any cohesion, grit or creativity. In short, Atletico Madrid outworked them and outsmarted them in every department on the field.

All that pomp and hypocrisy from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich came to a naught against a tough dog like Atletico Madrid. And the best part about all that is Atletico Madrid didn’t have to pull of any miracle whatsoever.

The one simple but effective reason why Atletico Madrid are in the finals of the Champions League for the 2nd time in three years is that they know how to fight.

And trust me, Atletico Madrid can fight the whole ninety minutes and beyond if it comes to that. Simeone as a coach has instilled the same fighting spirit in his players as he had when he used to be a professional football player.

Make no mistake, Atletico Madrid isn’t on the field to make friends, dribble like hell, show flair or even defend for that matter. No. They are on the field to get into the faces of their opponents. Frustrate them. Hurt with with bad tackles and shirt pulls.

Get them sent off or at least rile them up enough to make them lose their heads in the game.

If Real Madrid do beat Atletico Madrid then it would be a monumental achievement and as far as you can get from, what some are describing as, a lucky Champions League win for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid Faced Roma Who Took 2 points off Barcelona and in some style.

Any doubts about the quality of Roma players should evaporate quickly after watching this goal they scored against Barcelona in Italy.

And before we go into further detail, let’s ponder on a fact for a little moment here. Isn’t the mere fact that Roma is actually playing in the Champions League a testament of their quality as a formidable football team?

Yes they did concede 16 goals in a mere 6 games (about three goals every game) in the group stages but that’s the nature of the game. You just never know what’s going to happen in any given match.

Had Ronaldo’s shot not been deflected in the away match against Roma, who knows how the rest of the tie would have panned out.

So there is no point in debating in which team is stronger than which. All we know for sure is that attack wise Roma were probably on their best stretch of form in ages coming into the Real Madrid game and Real Madrid just mute them.

Real Madrid handled PSG in the group stages rather well.

And PSG is the team that knocked out Chelsea in the current edition of the Champions League. They had players like Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria (former Real Madrid winger), Verratti, Motta, Thiago Silva and many more.

How can one possibly imagine PSG as a mediocre opponent when their attacking threat is amongst the best in Europe.

Do we really need to remind ourselves that PSG won the Ligue 1 crown by a massive 30 points. That’s amount of margin is unheard of in modern football so PSG must be doing something right.

Real Madrid didn’t lose to PSG in the group stages and that indicates that Real Madrid had come prepared and ready to fight for the Champions League crown.

So it’s not like Real Madrid were put in a cakewalk group or something.

Real Madrid had to earn its top spot in the group stage and then had to fight the best of what was out there in order to get to the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Conclusion

The bias against Real Madrid in some quarters of the media is rather palpable. Barcelona got Arsenal in their round of 16 and nobody said a thing. Arsenal ended up level on points with Olympiakos in the Champions League and barely scraped through with 2nd position from the group stage matches.

So it’s not like other teams were facing mass murderers while Real Madrid were out there enjoying the sunshine (or rainbows for the more creative of you lot).

Whether Real Madrid win or lose against Atletico Madrid on Saturday is immaterial because Real Madrid have fought hard to get to the final and no one in their right mind would argue against that.

HALA MADRID!!!
