Ok. So this match has a lot riding on it. If Real Madrid win, Real Madrid will join Barcelona as the leaders of La Liga. Barcelona will play their game hours later against Sevilla away from home.
A draw from Sevilla vs Barcelona would be perfect for Real Madrid. May be a defeat for Barcelona would be a bit better as of now, Sevilla are behind us like 2 or 3 points.
However, a victory from Getafe vs Real Madrid should not be taken for granted for two reasons. One, it is an away game, which means Real Madrid would suffer.
Second, Getafe drew with Barcelona when they played them recently so that obviously means something as Barcelona have been annihilating teams from all parts of the globe.
Anyway, this is Real Madrid not Barcelona, we don’t have Messi, Eto’o and Theirry Henry in out attacking trio. All we have is a dumb Saviola, injured Van Nistelrooy (who when fit is better than henry) and Raul (who is not a striker, but still is called as a striker). Oo, forgot to mention Higuain. Yeah Higuain is on a hot form at the moment but he is also injured.
Don’t know what the heck is Real Madrid’s medical staff doing. So many players getting injured in such a crtical stage of the season. Some say, Real Madrid’s home ground, Bernabeu, has rough playing surface and that is why most players are getting injured not while training but while playing in matches (atleast Schuster says so).
Getafe are 14nth in the table and do need some points badly, that is bad because that usually means thattheywill play it ugly. Very ugly. 10 men behind the ball and plenty of fouls on Real Madrid players should be expected.
Real Madrid team news
Diarra, Heinze, Van Nistelrooy, Higuaín, De la Red, Cannavaro and Robben will all miss the match; the latter two finally didn’t make the squad list despite training well in the team’s last two sessions this week.
A struggle against Recreativo Huelva (1-0 win for Real Madrid) has been, by no means, an answer to the critics but it was enough to put Real Madrid second in the league after Barcelona ans Sevilla slipped up last weekend.
That victory propelled Real Madrid players to beat Borisov away from home, in freezing conditions to guarantee Real Madrid a place in the last 16 of Champions League.
