Real Madrid face a Stern Test In Champions League
Ok, guys, Marat Safin..ahem… I mean UEFA Champions League is next up for Real Madrid and we have got a very very tough group to deal with. Juventus, and Zenith are both in Real Madrid’s group which means there is a possibility that Real Madrid will not even make it past the group stages this season.
Ofcourse that is only a possibility not a probability but they way Real Madrid have defended this season so far, I wouldn’t bet against some big surprises because Real Madrid’s defence on air balls have been awful, the set-pieces have been awful and the only positive thing is that Schuster has admitted himself that Real Madrid needs to work on set pieces.
Last year, Real Madrid lost to Roma because of poor set piece defending with both goals coming from set pieces and a cross from out wide into the box, in the return leg against Roma which literally cost Real Madrid the game and got eliminated.
Anyway, RealMadridis going to face Belarus minnows BATE Borisov on Wednesday in their Champions League opener after losing their first league match and struggling to etch out a win against newly promoted Numancia over the weekend.
Bernd Schuster, sure to imunder presprove on last season when Real Madridwas ousted from the European tournament by Roma in the last 16 (for the fourth straight year I think), said Sunday’s 4-3 home victory over Numancia had revealed weaknesses that neededtobeavoidedagainstBATE.
